A small series about hearing with your eyes — jazz treated as something you watch vibrate, color and rhythm doing the listening for you.

A small series about hearing with your eyes — jazz as something you watch vibrate, not just hear.

The lead poster, "tuning," turns a vinyl record into a giant eyeball: a turquoise iris with a red center, grooves doubling as both disc and pupil, the word "improvisation" curling around it and a gritty halftone city skeleton glowing red and yellow at the bottom. A second poster, "taming," swaps the eye for a dense thicket of fibrous coral-and-yellow texture wrapped around JAZZ IMPROVISATION and the dates.

Both lean on the same idea: color and rhythm doing the listening for you. The series was made for Jazz in Ruins, a Polish festival that puts rising jazz musicians and young graphic designers on the same bill, very much in the spirit of the Polish School of Posters.
