Learn Kartuli — Lahti International Poster Triennial 2025

Poster

On keeping a small alphabet alive — a playful "Learn Kartuli" poster arguing a less-common script deserves the same confident treatment as Latin.
This is about language, and the freedom to keep small ones alive — the quiet argument that expressing yourself includes the script you do it in, and that freedom of expression has to cover the small alphabets too, or it doesn't mean much.
The poster is built almost entirely from Georgian lettering: a swirling calligraphic knot of Kartuli script anchoring the lower half, a friendly display headline above, and a tidy "Learn Kartuli" lockup with a googly-eyed mascot, tied to a "Crazy Polyglot" language project. The playfulness is the point — a less-common alphabet given the same confident, cheerful treatment any Latin one would get.
It sits squarely in the conversation at the Lahti International Poster Triennial's 50th-anniversary edition, which took freedom of expression as its theme.
