Only girls behind the decks — Rzeszów International Music Poster Biennale

Poster

A club-night poster — “Only girls behind the decks” — arguing that a flyer can carry the whole noise of a room through pure visual communication.

“Only girls behind the decks” began as a club night and turned into an argument about what a poster is for. A good poster makes the viewer think, not just the maker; its first job is to carry information, and its real power is visual communication — colour, composition, typography, a clear graphic metaphor doing the talking.

The poster pushes that hard: a torn, RGB-split column of red and cyan rips down the centre like a dropped signal, with the essentials — ONLY GIRLS BEHIND THE DECKS, 15.04, 23:00, and the line-up — held legible in the noise. The distortion is the sound made visible.

It was selected for the first edition of the Rzeszów International Music Poster Biennale in Poland — a competition built entirely around music posters, founded by Patrycja Longawa, on the premise that music unites where the news divides. Fitting, for a country with arguably the deepest poster tradition in the world.
