Reggaeon — International Reggae Poster Contest 2024

"REGGAEON" fuses two visual languages: bold Georgian lettering in fat overlapping shapes, painted entirely in the reggae triad of red, gold and green against white, with "REG" and "GAEON" anchoring the corners in Latin.

The move is simple and satisfying — take a music genre defined by its colours and let an entirely different alphabet wear them. That swap is the whole idea: the sound of one culture carried in the script of another, and the colours doing the translating.

It went to the International Reggae Poster Contest, which celebrates Jamaican music and raises funds toward a Reggae Hall of Fame in Kingston; the 9th edition themed itself around the Jamaican roots of hip-hop.
