Jazz rendered as something you can see vibrating — colour and rhythm doing the listening for you.
Made for Jazz w Ruinach (Jazz in Ruins), a Polish festival that puts rising jazz musicians and young poster designers on the same bill — music and poster art treated as two halves of the same instinct, very much in the spirit of the Polish School of Posters.
My poster turns sound into something you can see vibrating: a vinyl record becomes a giant turquoise eye, its grooves doubling as iris and disc, with “improvisation” curling around it and a gritty halftone city glowing below. The 2025 edition took the theme “Taming Improvisation,” which the artwork answers almost literally.
I've taken part in the festival's poster strand twice — selected for 2025 (“Taming Improvisation”), and earlier in 2021, nominated in the Master Class / Printed category.
